PM TO PAY FUTSAL PLAYERS FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare will pay $1,500 each to the Under 12 and Under 14 Futsal players for their outstanding performances during the recent National Futsal Championships in Australia.

The Under 12 and Under 14 Futsal teams came 1st and 3rd respectively.

The Prime Minister announced the government’s decision to reward the 20 young players when he welcomed them in the Cabinet Chambers soon after arriving back in Honiara yesterday.

Prime Minister Sogavare said the money will be paid at no better time than now when the players will need to buy their new school uniforms and other needs to return to their respective schools this year.

He adds they have made the government, parents, friends, and the country, very proud with the outstanding results.

Sogavare said the team winning the games has once again put Solomon Islands in the Futsal World.

Meanwhile, President of the Solomon Islands Sports Coalition Nacanieli Seru responded that his futsal organization and the futsal players are very thankful to the Democratic Coalition for Change
Government for enabling the teams to take part in the games in Australia.

He said the government’s $80,000 intervention of assistance has resulted in the sweet victories.

The players and supporters applauded the Prime Minister.
