Police are continuing their investigations into the rape of a nine-month old pregnant woman at Lungga, East Honiara last month.

A man from Guadalcanal has been charged and remanded in custody.

According to the allegations, the woman was returning home early in the morning after selling food at a Sisi dance in Lungga when she met the accused.

The accused allegedly spoke to her and said ‘good morning” but she did not respond.

He allegedly grabbed her, pulled her to the nearby bushes and raped her.

The allegations go on to say while he was doing this, her phone rang.

It was her sister who lived nearby on the phone.

The victim told her what happened and her sister came with some of her brothers and restrained the accused.

Then they called the police to arrest him.

This morning the case appeared at the Magistrate Court for mention.

But public prosecutor Siriepu Ramosaea seek the Court to adjourn the case because the Henderson Police are still to complete their
investigation and provide her with the file on the case.

The case will appear again in Court on the 30th of this month.
