The Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga says the police are now more prepared to attend to any disorderly situation.

The Acting Police Commissioner made the statement following the launch of a major security operation.

In a press statement issued at approximately six-thirty pm this evening, the Police Media Unit says additional officers are deployed and are patrolling Honiara and surrounding communities as part of the operation.

A number of Police Units have also been mobilized, and Police Operations Officers are assisting general duty officers in their policing and patrols.

Acting Police Commissioner Matanga says with the launching of the security operation, police are more prepared and have the response capability to attend to any disorderly situation.

She said the police are using all available resources and are not taking any chances.

She adds, police officers deployed under the operation will not tolerate any nuisances and disorderly behaviour.

The Acting Police Commissioner also called on members of the public to refrain from involving in illegal activities, and to stay at home.

The police operation will continue on to tomorrow.
