Reviewing the current provisional Act ranks number one task for the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission in 2015.

Out going Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Manasseh Maelanga made the assurance during his debate on the Prime Minister’s sine die motion in parliament last week.

Mr Maelanga said the act review is part of the NCRA government’s electoral reform program with the first draft ready for public input.

He says, the task could not be done this year due to the heavy commitment on the new biometric registration system and the National general election.

“This task is rank number one for 2015 financial year for both the Ministry and the Commission. It could not be done this years because of our heavy commitment to the two very important exercises we have to undertake, namely; the new Biometric Voter Registration system and the National Parliamentary Elections.”
