R.S.I.P.F INVESTIGATES ALLEGED SHOOTING INCIDENT

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is investigating a gunshot incident which takes place at the Maravagi resort in the Central Islands province early this morning.

Police say, it was alleged that a vessel was damaged by gunshots at the early hours of this morning.

The Vessel was believed to be carrying more than ten members of the Democratic Coalition for Change who have left Honiara yesterday afternoon to stay away from lobbying before the Prime Minister’s election today.

Speaking during his media conference today, Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said police have organised a joint task force with the Participating Police Force to fully investigate the crime.

“Police can confirm there was an incident that occurred where a boat allegedly damaged by gunshots. This is s serious incident and the police have instituted a joint task force with the PPF to fully investigate this crime.”

Commissioner Prendergast assures the public that the police are giving the matter a top priority to ensure perpetrators are identified and prosecuted.

“I’d like to assure the public that the RSIPF together with their partners the PPF are giving the matter the highest priority and are committed to ascertaining the facts and ensuring that the perpetrators are identified and prosecuted.”
