Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo says Solomon Islanders must take time to reflect on what they have done or can do to build the platform for others to rise.

Prime Minister Lilo was speaking on this year’s independence theme: “Building the fundamentals for a strong government and empowered people.”

He says every generation is a building block for the next one.

Mr Lilo explains, where a country builds strong, the next generation can build stronger.

He emphasizes, where no foundations are laid, for people to explore and excel in their gifts, talents, crafts and enterprise, the people become weak and retreat.

Reflecting on his government’s achievement, Mr Lilo says NCRA has built some key fundamentals in the fields of education, health, infrastructure, communications, health and political development.

He urges the next generation of leaders to build on these and move the country forward.
