The Sikaiana Community in Malaita Outer Island has received building material to upgrade the islands old clinic building.

A spokesperson for the community, Rex Kafo said the material includes roofing iron and cement.

Mr Kafo said their clinic is currently in bad condition and the material will go towards upgrading the clinic to raise the standard of health services in the island.

” With the arrival of these new building materials, it seems health and medical services on the island will be upgraded, despite the island’s remoteness, nurses won’t have difficulties in treating people on the island”, said Mr. Kafo.

SIBC News understands the roofing iron and cement was transported to Sikaiana last month and work to upgrade the clinic will start soon.
