Staff of the Police Prosecution were locked out of their office building this morning because the rent for the first quarter of the year was not paid.

The landlord, Korean Enterprise Limited, locked the building over the weekend and refused the staff access this morning.

Most of them appeared at the Magistrate Court in plain clothes because their uniforms were locked up in the office.

They had to adjourn their cases because they could not access important files.

Meanwhile, the acting director of Police Prosecution Rodney Whitney says the cheque for the rent should be printed by tomorrow, latest.

Mr Whitney says the Government is always on time on rent payment, but the delay was due to the different processes involved.

He explains, it was part of the agreement for the rent to be paid up-front.

SIBC News has been reliably informed, the first quarter rent is $192,000.
