The board of directors of Solomon Water announce the resignation of Mr. Richard Austin as the authority’s general manager.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Phil Bradford says the board respects Mr. Richard’s decision.

Director Bradford says since his appointment over three years ago, Richard has restructured and with donor funding recapitalised Solomon Water.

Mr. Bradford adds Austin was instrumental in strengthening the internal controls and refocused the business where it is now a much stronger organisation.

He says the board is grateful to Richard for his leadership, integrity and resilience in guiding Solomon Water through its crises period adding, the State Owned enterprise (SOE) is well positioned for the future.

The Australian High Commissioner Andrew Byrne has also extended his appreciation to Mr. Austin saying Australia is proud to support Solomon Water and Richard Austin has made an outstanding contribution to the organisation during his tenure as General Manager.

His Excellency Byrne says Austin leaves Solomon Water stronger and better able to meet the urban water needs of the people of Solomon Islands.

Meanwhile, the Solomon Water Board also wishes to announce it has unanimously elected Mr. Ray Andresen as acting General Manager until a replacement is made.

The board says, Ray Andresen has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities also during the crises periods in the past.

Mr. Andresen has been called on to use his experience and leadership to guide the authority, hopefully for a short period until a replacement is announced.
