The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission is optimistic to complete the voter’s registration list next week.
The Electoral Commission’s media unit confirms this recently as the country’s first biometric voters list is completed today.
Pacific Islands News Association reports while the Electoral Commission is yet to announce any official election date and open nominations for the polls, 10 political parties have already submitted their registration under the Political Parties Integrity Act, which was adopted to curb political instability by strengthening party politics.
SIBC News understands the new Biometric Voter Registration system was introduced in the country this year to eliminate multiple
registrations and ghost voting which became a major issue of concern in previous elections.
