The Government is beginning to implement the Constituency Development Fund, CDF in compliance with the new Public Financial Management Act, PFMA and its other subsidiary financial mechanisms.

A statement from the Government Communication Unit today says the implementation process begins with the preparation of tender documents, published in the media this week to invite expressions of interest from potential suppliers bidding to be preferred suppliers for commonly procured CDF project services, materials and inputs.

It says this tender process is crucial to allow the Ministry of Rural Development to evaluate and select potential goods and service providers so that the actual procurement of goods and services can be undertaken as from April 2014.

Executing CDF projects under the new PFMA and the procurement rules are actually putting into effect government’s policy intention to enhance transparency and accountability for the use of public funds.
