The Solomon Islands National Teachers Association, SINTA, will award gold medals for its financial members and their long and dedicated service members in this year’s World Teachers Day.

General Secretary Samson Faisi told a media conference today SINTA is diverting its resources to recognise retired and long serving teachers by awarding them medals and certificates of long and dedicated services in their teaching profession.

Mr Faisi says this is to boost the recognition of teachers for their services like other government awards by awarding medals and certificates.

“So we will present our own gold medals to the teachers whom we think they deserve to get them and also that will go along with a special certificate.”

He adds, SINTA is currently identifying eligible teachers around the country for the awards.

The SINTA General Secretary said SINTA has thirty gold medals for the award which worth more than $20,000.
