The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is currently monitoring the ongoing dispute involving Solomon Islands Ports
Authority (SIPA) employees and Management.

In his weekly police conference today, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Commissioner Frank Prendergast told journalists, police only monitor the issue as it is an industrial dispute.

Commissioner Prendergast, however, warns conflicting parties to refrain from involving in any criminal activity as the police will make the arrest accordingly.

“We are continuing to monitor that situation and encourage dialogue between the involved parties. It is an industrial dispute and that police don’t have a role in adjudicating industrial disputes but what I will say is the behaviour earlier in the week is totally unacceptable and where there is criminal behaviour or breaches, the police will act.”

Mr Prendergast calls on all parties to behave responsibly.

“We’re asking that everyone involved in that dispute behaves rationally, sensibly and calmly.”
