S.I’s ATHLETES SNATCH MEDALS AT 2015 OCEANIA ATHLETICS

In sports, Solomon Islands middle and long distance athletes, snatched medals in the 2015 Oceania athletics championship in Cairns, Australia over the weekend.

Female middle distance ace, Sharon Firisua, claimed gold in the women’s 5000m with an impressive performance in the first event of the day.

Papua New Guinea claimed both the silver and bronze medals in the event.

Meanwhile, Rosefelo Siosi won bronze in the men’s 10,000 metres.

In his first Oceania Athletics Championships, four years ago, Siosi took home gold in both his five and 10-kilometre races.

SIBC sports understand these two athletes are medal prospects for Solomon Islands in PNG pacific games this July.

Solomon Islands is sending 22 sports to the games.
