The Regional Rights Resource Team (RRRT) from the Secretariat of the Pacific Community has organised a two days forum-“Gender Equality Forum,” in Honiara.

The RRRT Country Focal Officer, Rose Martin says the forum aims to get the civil society organisations who are promoting gender equality to come together and talk about what they did in their own organisation.

She says the forum is also to help participants improve their network.

“And to see how they can improve what we call cooperation amongst themselves because they are working in the same area, most likely you would have same target groups working with women and such, so we are trying to get them together and talk about how they can work together. This is because at times we have resources but working alone we cannot be able to achieve a lot compared to working together where we can achieve a lot and share information.”

Mrs Martin adds the Gender Forum is part of a project funded by the European Union to Promote Gender Equality in Solomon Islands.
