A former Parliamentarian Alfred Sasako has called on the current Parliament to introduce a draft legislation to manage all Rural Constituency Development Funds (CDF).

Speaking to SIBC News Mr. Sasako says the legislation would create an independent body such as constituency funding commission to manage all rural constituency development funds.

“I want to propose the idea that the government or any Member of Parliament either the Opposition or the Government to bring in a draft legislation to set up what I would call a Constituency Funding Commission.”

Mr. Sasako adds it is important for the current house to consider the call as certain members of parliament over the years has been associated with mismanagement of the fund.

“I think that is the way to go. I think the MPs are not elected to handle money as they’re supposed to be our legislators and I think one of the biggest mistakes we have made over the years is we allowed ourselves to handle money.”
