Communities on Savo, Russell islands have expressed concerns over the continuation of the current dry season on the island.

James Viriala told SIBC News, Savo communities are concerned that their drinking water and food gardens would be affected if this dry season continues.

He says people on the island are now travelling by boat to Visale, West Guadalcanal to fetch drinking water.

“The people of Savo island have felt impacts of the dry season in terms of water and gardens being wilted. Now they are going as far as Guadalcanal to fetch drinking water since the drought has lasted almost over a month and they are really worried.”
