The Solomon Islands National AIDS Council announces new statistics for confirmed HIV cases in the country – including new statistics of local people living with HIV receiving anti-retro viral treatment.

The Solomon Islands National AIDS Council have announced new statistics for confirmed HIV cases in the country – including new statistics of local people living with HIV who are receiving anti-retro viral treatment.

In a press conference yesterday, Vice Chairman of the Solomon Islands National AIDS Council –  Dr Lester Ross announced another two people have been diagnosed with HIV.

Dr Lester  said  out of the 22 HIV cases diagnosed since 1994 – only fourteen people living with HIV are alive and eight have already died.Dr Lester also said of the 14 people living with HIV who are still alive, only eleven are on treatment.He said the other three HIV patients are not on treatment because the Ministry of Health has lost contact with them.
