Six youths are currently attending a 5-day radio workshop that aims to produce a live radio talk back show on the importance of water sanitation and hygiene in Solomon Islands.

The workshop also aims to equip the youths with radio writing and presenting skills, and best practices of preparing and conducting radio talk back shows.

Chief of UNICEF Solomon Islands Yun Jong Kang told the workshop’s official opening yesterday that the participants will be the first group to take the lead in producing and presenting the youth radio program in the country.

“So basically this radio programme is part and parcel of this whole initiative. I hope that by the end of this workshop this week you will be equipped with necessary skills and knowledge to promote key messages in support of WAS and also key family practices and other priorities through the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation,” he said.

The radio workshop is held at the SIBC’s Conference Room in Honiara and will end on Friday.
