Dr. Jimmie Rogers and the Indonesian constructors

The construction of the Sol 2023 South Pacific Games Multi-purposed hall futsal stadium will commence shortly.

This was funded by the Republic of Indonesia through a grant of approximately 7.5 million USD or approx 65 million SBD.

The stadium constructors from Indonesian firm PT Wijaya Kara (WIKA) were currently in Honiara to start the detailed planning for construction.

Commending the Indonesian Government support, Chair of the National Hosting Authority Dr. Jimmy Rogers confirmed the funds has already in there possession and implementation is currently underway.

“The project will be a “Game changing” project for the country as Solomon Islands is a football-mad-nation.”

The Hall will be in built at the KGVI-Panatina Sports Complex, where the Main Stadium, Aquatics and Tennis Complex will be built.

He added the stadium is a single complex that will house three court areas capable of playing futsal, basketball, netball volleyball and a host of other sports.

“The complex is over 5800 sq. meters and features 6 change rooms, a conference room area, and permanent retractable seating for over 1500 people. The hall could potentially hold over 4000 people in different seating areas.

WIKA Country Manager Abdur Rachman said this project is an important project here in Solomon Islands.

“WIKA has now taken steps to accelerate the delivery of the Hall by the end of 2021.  This is fully 12 months earlier than planned.”

The constructors are working on a 12 months time frame where the project is expected to be completed by 2021.
