Solomon Islands has a new Italian Ambassador.
He is Pier Francesco Zazo and he presented his letter of credence to the Governor General at the Government House this morning.
A government statement today says Ambassador Zazo says he is confident that Solomon Islands and Italy will continue to strengthen their political relationship.
He says this relationship is bilateral and multilateral, to further expand the bilateral economic cooperation and promoting people-to-people contacts, touristic and cultural exchanges.
Meanwhile, Governor General Sir Frank Kabui said Italy’s ongoing support towards Solomon Islands development aspirations is encouraging.
He says this was demonstrated especially in the fight against climate change, and most recently its support during the relief and recovery efforts following the April Floods.
