SOLOMONS & P.N.G SNATCHED FINAL GOLD IN HALF MARATHON

Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands snatched the final two athletics gold medals at Port Moresby 2015 in the men’s and women’s half marathons over the weekend.

In the men’s event Kupsy Bisamo of PNG won gold with a time of one hour, 14 minutes and 11 seconds.

In the women’s event, our national speed star, Sharon Firisua  collected her third gold of the Games, finishing the race in one hour, 29 minutes and 26 seconds.

Meanwhile, another Solomon Islander Dianah Matekali grabbed silver, while Miriam Goiye of PNG took bronze.

Overall, Solomon Islands bagged seven Gold, six Silver and 15 bronze, totaling 28 medals altogether.
