The engagement of youth in sporting activities has begun to create a peaceful community for Bita’ama in North Malaita.
Bita’ama community Youth Coordinator Timothy Willie told SIBC News it has been five years since taking up the post and there is change in youth behaviour in the community.
He says their engagement in sports, choirs and fundraising has helped to reduce anti-social behaviour in the community.
“I have engaged them in sports, choirs and fundraising and as I engaged them in these activities, drug abuse, marijuana and kwaso-associated problems are minimized.”
The Bita’ama Youth Leader said the engagement of youth in such activities can help create a peaceful society.
