The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Taro is currently investigating the burning of a house at Nila Catholic station in Shortland Islands, Western Province.

SIBC’s Shortlands Stringer John Kotaru reports this morning, the incident happened early yesterday morning.

The burned building was believed to be the residence of the Nila Parish Priest.

Kotaru said two catholic priests have escaped the fire unhurt.

“It’s still unclear what and who caused the fire. Two priests, Father Peter LalaiĀ Galo a parish priest and Father Gabriel a Chaplin of the Tuha Junior Bosco secondary were lucky to escape unhurt from the blazing fire when it started in their room while they were sleeping.”

Kotaru adds, a hundred thousand dollars cash was among other properties burned.
