Prime Minister Lilo made the statement yesterday when he officially launched the Trade Expo 2014 at the Bodo Field, next to China Town, in Honiara yesterday.

He said this seriousness is reflected in the government’s National Development Strategy and aims to create a better life for ordinary Solomon Islanders.

“And these are all focused on aiming to create a better life for our ordinary Solomon Islanders, and in that National Development Strategy it contains eight pillars that set the blueprint to fulfilling the government’s desire to creating a better life for all Solomon Islanders and that we can pave the way to accelerate the economic development of our country. And to pursue this initiative the government has embarked on creating legislation and regulations to drive, promote and develop the Small and Medium Enterprise sector in our country.”

The Prime Minister adds, broadening the Foreign Investment Amendment and Validation Act in 2009, and reviewing the Small and Medium Enterprise regulations in 2009, enabled the Ministry of Commerce to effectively provide services to the business sector.
