A training focusing on Primary Prevention of Violence Against Girls and Women began in Honiara today.

The training was organised by UN Women Solomon Islands as part of a capacity building and prevention support under the Pacific Regional Ending Violence Against Women Facility Fund for Grantee, and for partner organisations of both Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands.

A media invitation from the UN Women said it is pleased to partner with global prevention specialist organisation Promundo, in sessions on working with men and boys to prevent violence.

It said the training will allow participants to share experience, good practice on programming, policy development and implementation to prevent violence against women and girls.

The training will also strengthen regional and national networking and inter-agency planning for prevention; and share successes, opportunities and priorities linked to primary prevention.
