A Gold Ridge landowning tribe has come out against the Deed of Sale for the mines saying it does not accept it.

Chair of the Kolobisi Gold Ridge Landowners Association, Primo Amosae has also denied any involvement with the new developer for Gold Ridge mine – the Gold Ridge Community Investment Limited.

He told SIBC news this afternoon, many landowners know very little about the Gold Ridge Community Investment Limited.

He also said his association does not accept the Deed of Sale between St. Barbara and GCIL for the following reasons.

“The technical explanation provided didn’t go down well with the community. What the community believe is that the dam still contains poisonous chemicals that could destroy the rivers downstream and that’s why I am disassociating myself from this arrangement. If this arrangement fails to do what it has to do in a proper way as expected by safe environment regulations then I am free of blame and making my position clear as the chairman of the tailings dam.”
