TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CURRENT FOR SOLOMON ISLANDS

The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service has this afternoon issued a Tropical Cyclone Warning.

The cyclone warning is now enforced for Temotu, Malaita and Makira Provinces.

This follows Tropical Cyclone Pam, Category two has been relocated to approximately 117 nautical miles North-northeast of Anuta Island, Temotu Province.

Cyclone Pam is moving south-southeast at 04 knots and is gaining strength.

Met Service says while storm winds of up to 63 knots are expected to develop over Anuta and Tikopia Islands within the next 24 hours, remaining provinces also expect Gale force wind of up to 47 knots.

Meanwhile, Met Service advises people in the affected areas to always take precautionary measures and listen to the radio for advice at this time.

SIBC News understands the tropical cyclone watch advice is enforced for Rennell and Bellona, Central, Isabel, Western and Choiseul Provinces.
