TWENTY-TWO ARRESTED FOR RECENT HONIARA RIOTING

Police have arrested 22 suspects in relation to the rioting, looting and arson in Honiara over the weekend.

Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga confirms the numbers, saying the suspects were charged with arson,criminal trespass and unlawful assembly.

Commissioner Matanga said most of the suspects were male and are between the ages of sixteen and forty-five years old.

“Twenty-two suspects were charged with arson, larceny, criminal trespass and unlawful assembly. Four were charged with larceny and one charged with going armed. Most of them are male aged from 16 -45 years. Following the arrests six males were released on bail conditions.”
