TWO NOMINATIONS RECEIVED FOR PM’s POST AS NOMINATIONS CLOSED

The Governor General Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui has formally received two candidates for the Prime Minister’s post at the close of nominations at 4pm this afternoon.

The Government House confirms to SIBC news late this afternoon, it had received and filed nomination documents for East Choiseul MP, Manasseh Damukana Sogavare for the Prime Minister’s position on Wednesday afternoon.

It adds, 15 minutes before the official nomination period lapsed this afternoon, a second nomination was received by the Government House for Jeremiah Manele’s candidature.

The Government House adds Mr. Sogavare has been nominated by the Honiara Hotel Coalition while Mr. Manele is the Solomon Islands Peoples Democracy Coalition’s nominee.

The Governor General has set the 9th of December as the date to elect the country’s Prime Minister.
