The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development has restricted the harvesting of trocus shells in the country.

It decided to enforce the restriction after noticing an unsustainable harvesting of the sea shell.

Research Officer of the Ministry, Paul Jay told SIBC News that under the restriction, people are only allowed to harvest trocus shells with diameters of 8-12 centimeters.

“The minimum and maximum sizes of restriction, meaning the allowable sizes to harvest are trocus shells of 8-12 centimetres in diametres (not less than 8 centimetre and more than 12 centimetre).”

He said the Ministry is closely monitoring the harvesting of trocus shells in the country.
