The University of the South Pacific Solomon Islands Campus has graduated its first batch of students from its Lata Centre, Temotu province yesterday.

Temotu’s Provincial Minister of Health and Medical Services, Nickson Lanoli described the ceremony as a historical moment for the province.

SIBC’s Andrew Nalua reported Hon. Lanoli as saying the day will be remembered for generations.

“This day will be recorded and remembered by generations because it is a day where the Temotu people directly saw the first harvest of human resources from their own university in their province.”

Mr Lanoli on behalf of the Temotu provincial government announced a project is underway to build a higher learning centre to accommodate the USP Lata Centre.

He says land for the project has already been identified.
