The President of the Republic of Vanuatu, His Excellency Iolu Johnson Abbil has sent condolences to the Government and people of Solomon Islands for the loss of lives and properties during the April 3 flash floods.

A Government statement today says in Mr Abbil’s message to his counterpart Sir Frank Kabui, President Abbil says the Government and People of Vanuatu recognize, the disaster will not only leave emptiness in the lives of immediate families of demised victims but also in the hearts of residents that have particularly made the place their home.

President Abbil says it is a great sense of loss to learn of the sudden flash floods tragedy, particularly, in Honiara that has claimed precious lives and has caused an enormous burden for the country as a whole.

Mr Abbil adds, on behalf of the Government and People of Vanuatu, he takes this moment of grief to offer Vanuatu’s deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of Solomon Islands, especially to the families of the victims.

Meanwhile, President Abbil urges small countries in the Pacific to keep seeking and trusting in the Almighty God as they become vulnerable to natural disaster.
