Guadalcanal Premier Anthony Veke says he is optimistic the relationship between Guadalcanal and China’s Guangdong Province will grow to benefit both provinces.
Premier Veke made the statement today, following a meeting the Guadalcanal Provincial Executive had with a delegation from the Guangdong Province.
The 12 member delegation from Guangdong is currently in the country for a two-day visit.
The two parties discussed areas of mutual interest, especially in terms of investment, focusing on health, fisheries, tourism and other areas.
Speaking to SIBC News today, Premier Veke says he is optimistic their relationship will grow to benefit both provinces, particularly in the health sector.
“To me I see it as very encouraging and very positive, especially statements made by the head of the delegation from Guangdong, China to Guadalcanal Province as a government on the areas of social development, especially social services like health. They are very much onto assisting Guadalcanal to develop its areas that needs development. As a government we see this as very encouraging, especially in terms of developing our health sector.”
Meanwhile, the Guangdong delegation from China had donated medical supplies to the Guadalcanal Province after their meeting today .
