The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of Solomon Islands will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) in two weeks time.

The association today quoted General Secretary Jenta Manu as saying this year’s AGM will be special for the organisation as it will be launching its new 10 year Strategic Plan 2015 to 2025.

The updated Annual and Audit Reports will be tabled during the meeting.

Mrs. Manu stressed YWCA Solomon Islands is striving to complete all its unfinished business before embarking on its new Strategic Plan.

She says YWCA is striving to be a credible organisation, aiming to achieve its objectives to continue providing quality programmes for the empowerment of women, young women and girls and to provide quality early childhood education for young children in Honiara through its Town Ground kindergarten.

The YWCA General Secretary affirmed that with lots of hopes, strategic thinking and positive drive for 2015, especially with its new Strategic Plan in place, will guide and direct the organisation’s work and advancement.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Manu says like other small non-government organisations, YWCA has its challenges but are empowered to move forward this year with a new strategic outlook.

She calls on YWCA members and stakeholders, especially development partners, to be part of the AGM in order to obtain collective ideas from individual contributions to pave the way forward.

YWCA is an organisation with a vision of “Creating Space for Young Solomon Islands Women to Influence Change” and will continue to improve its programmes such as the Rise Up! Leadership Training for young women in the outskirt settlements of Honiara as well as in Munda and Auki and to provide accommodation for working women at its Hostel at Town Ground in Honiara.
