Auki police arrest suspect for cutting a victim with a bush knife
Police in Auki have arrested a suspect who cut a victim in his 20s with a bush knife early this morning at Maofa village in West Kwara’ae, Malaita Province.
It was alleged that the suspect entered the victim’s house and attacked him several times with a bush knife.
The victim was asleep at the time of the incident, and woke up when the suspect broke the door and entered the house.
The victim tried to defend himself but was unable to withstand the attack.
Provincial Police Commander for Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa, said the victim is in stable condition but under the care of medical authorities at Kilufii Hospital for treatment.
“I appeal to the people of Maofa village to refrain from further retaliation and allow police to deal with the matter,” Tafoa said.
