CAPSA Project conducts first Project Operations Manual workshop

The Building Capacity in Statistics and Audit (CAPSA) Project marked a significant milestone with the successful hosting of its Project Operations Manual (POM) Workshop on Monday at the National Statistics Office (NSO) in Honiara.

Facilitated by Mr. Philip Bottern, a World Bank Consultant, the workshop provided critical guidance on project implementation frameworks to key stakeholders.

The workshop brought together the Government Statistician, the Auditor General and senior officials from NSO and Office of the Auditor General (OAG).

Participants engaged in comprehensive discussions covering essential components of the POM, including reporting mechanisms, governance structures, financial management procedures, and environmental and social risk management protocols.

These discussions are aimed to ensure alignment with international best practices and effective project execution.

During the opening session, the Project Manager welcomed attendees and expressed appreciation for their active participation.

He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the facilitators in delivering the workshop’s objectives.

The substantive sessions featured detailed presentations, beginning with an overview of Component 1 by the Government Statistician, followed by a presentation on Component 2 by the Auditor General.

Miss. Khine, the World Bank Environmental Specialist, provided insights into the Environment and Social Stakeholder Management Plan, while Mr. Gerry, the Deputy Auditor General, shared updates on the OAG’s role in the project.

The workshop concluded with a session on financial and procurement guidelines led by Mr. Lamin, the International Finance Specialist for CAPSA.

The workshop was both informative and timely, equipping participants with a clearer understanding of the project’s operational requirements.

The CAPSA Project plans to conduct follow-up workshops to reinforce these principles and ensure continuous smooth project implementation.

The CAPSA is a joint project between the Solomon Islands National Statistics Office and the Office of the Auditor General in partnership with the World Bank.
