CARE-TAKER GOV’T APOLOGIZE TO FIJI OVER AIRLINES: MILNER TOZAKA
The member of parliament for North Vella Lavella, and Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, Milner Tozaka has called on the Care-taker Government to apologize to Fiji as a possible way to resolve strained relations between Solomon Airlines and Fiji Airways.
Freelancer Gorge Atkin reports Mr Tozaka says the Caretaker Government of Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo must take the initiative quickly as an apology will possibly resolve the dispute.
Mr Tozaka explains apology is better because Fiji’s action to restrict Solomon Airlines from landing in Fiji airports is the result of Solomon Islands withdrawing its supporting from Fiji’s candidate for the post of Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum.
Mr Tozaka adds the apology should re-affirm to Suva that Solomon Islands values its ties with Fiji as many of its citizens are working and studying in Fiji.
