CDF WILL BE ACCESSIBLE ONLY BY CDP’s and CP’s IN 2014

Government has announced that members will have to provide their constituency profiles and development plans to access their constituency development plans this year.

Government has announced that members will have to provide their constituency profiles and development plans to access their constituency development plans this year.

Members of Parliament will now have to provide their Constituency Development Plans(CDP) and Constituency Profiles (CP) before they can access Constituency Development Funds (CDF) this year.

Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo announced this when he spoke on Government priorities at the Prayer Breakfast in Honiara yesterday.

Prime Minister Lilo said Parliament passed the Constituency Development Fund Act last year and this required regulations to govern the Act, and make it operational.

He said leading up to implementing the CDF Act, all constituencies must have a profile and a constituency development plan to access their constituency development funds.

“We will now require that all constituencies must have a profile and a constituency development plan. There will be no payment until a constituency has a complement profile and a development plan under the CDF Act. And to make that work, we will also keep close look at how national resources are used. The Public Finance Management Act has been passed by Parliament. This will provide a good management mechanism for public finances and public resources. This will apply to monies disbursed under the Constituency Development Fund Act and others”, Mr. Lilo said.
