The Anglican Diocese of Guadalcanal has raised concerns over the sale of Guadalcanal land to foreigners and strangers.

Diocese raised the concern during its second synod meeting in Verana’aso, West Guadalcanal recently.

Diocesan Bishop Reverend Nathan Tome told SIBC, social and economical developments taking place on Guadalcanal are creating negative impact on our young generation.

Bishop Tome said the Diocese of Guadalcanal believe controlling land sale would help keep out unwanted behaviours and culture.

“The church of the Diocese of Guadalcanal has expressed a very deep concern and in very strong terms the sad and disastrous situation for the lives of the people of Guadalcanal. We have a concern for the lives of people as a result of the sale of land to foreigners and strangers.”
