Communities should give ex-offenders a second chance, says the Correctional Service Yellow Ribbon program.

Director for Rehabilitation at the Correctional Services Solomon Islands, Derick Tenai made the statement during a community rehabilitation awareness program at Visale, West Guadalcanal.

He told SIBC News, the Yellow Ribbon Awareness Program is to educate communities about former inmates.

He also said former inmates should be given a second chance to be part of the community.

“Yellow Ribbon is all about giving a second chance to an ex-offender, that’s the call of inmates to our communities for them to accept them and not to view them negatively.”
