GENERAL PUBLIC MUST RESPECT THE RULE OF LAW: ALLAN TAROHANIA
A concerned Honiara Citizen has called on the general public to respect and uphold the laws of the country.
Allan Tarohania, also a freelance journalist, made the call today after a lawyer was threatened by angry relatives of a young victim in a murder case.
Mr Tarohania said the lawyer was defending the accused at the High Court.
He said such actions should be condemned and people should respect lawyers who are only doing their job.
“The call now is for people to respect the due process of the court or the law. The accused, whether he is innocent or guilty, is a matter for the court to decide on and as for the lawyer, we must take this clearly, is only doing his job pertaining to the laws of this country, so people must not misunderstand this. After all, we must all acknowledge the fact that no one is above the law as well.”
