High Court Grants Interim Orders in KCM–Honiara City Council Dispute

The High Court of Solomon Islands on Friday 5th December 2025 granted interim orders in favour of KCM Properties Limited in proceedings against the Honiara City Council concerning the Point Cruz / Firehouse Clothing Market on Parcel No. 191-023-172.

The interim orders, made without prejudice to the final outcome of the case, are intended to preserve the position on the ground and to protect the interests of stallholders and the titleholder while the Court considers the legal issues properly before it.

KCM Properties Limited has declined to comment further on the details of the case, citing the matter’s current status before the Court.

The company has urged all parties, including public authorities, to respect the judicial process and comply with the Court’s instructions.

It also acknowledged the challenges faced by the mostly female stallholders who depend on the Point Cruz market to support their families. KCM said it remains committed to working lawfully to ensure a safe, orderly and hygienic trading environment on the property.

KCM also called on stallholders and the public to remain calm, cooperate with law-enforcement officers on the ground, and wait for further directions from the Court. Additional updates will be issued through the company’s legal representatives, BETS Legal Services.
