ISABEL PROVINCE ENCOURAGED TO PARTNER WITH RESOURCE OWNERS
Minister of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening Duddley Kopu has encouraged the Isabel Provincial Government to forge a partnership with resource owners to help drive socio-economic developments in the Province.
In his keynote address to mark Isabel Province’s 31st Second Appointed Day in Buala yesterday, Minister Kopu said socio-economic development can be successful if the Provincial Government and resource owners establish strong partnerships to share resources.
Minister Kopu said the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government believes participation and shared decision making in resource utilization benefits resource owners and partners in prudent decision making on development programs that touched their resources.
He appeals to the provincial government to involve resource owners, rural community members, and small investors to part-take in decision making that fertilizes economic development and enhance service delivery to the people of Isabel province.
Meanwhile, Minister Kopu also highlighted DCCG’s support in allocating $40 million through the Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF) to support development programs in the nine provinces.
The fund is intended for infrastructure projects and local economic developments such as cocoa copra storage facilities and market store facilities.
