13 different churches in Central Honiara Constituency received tithes from their Member of Parliament, Gordon Darcy Lilo, today at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Honiara.

Constituency Development Officer Rexford Paul handed over the tithes to each church pastor on behalf of the MP.

Each church received a total of $10,098.80.

Paul told SIBC News that it was an honor to hand over the tithes to each church.

“I, on behalf of Member of Parliament Gordon Darcy Lilo, today is a very important day for the team to give tithes and offerings to churches within the Central Honiara Constituency.”

He said that thirteen churches received their tithes and collected them through their church representatives and pastors, while twelve churches are yet to receive their tithes.

“We are looking forward to meeting those church representatives to receive their tithes which were given to churches,” Paul said.

Under the leadership of Lilo, the Constituency office is keen to support local churches as churches played a vital role in stabilizing communities.

Meanwhile, Father John Roroi of Saint Barnabas Provincial Cathedral of the Anglican Church of Melanesia thanked the constituency officer for the donation, which was the first of its kind given to churches within the constituency.

“I was very happy to witness this low-key ceremony to hand over tithes to church representatives as we all witnessed today.

He said that although it’s a small gathering, it speaks louder as it is the first of its kind.

“We acknowledged our MP for his heart for the church and putting things back in order, as this is the concept that we should work on whether in government or private sector, we must give back to our church.”

Rorosi thanked the Constituency office for the donation and for giving back to the community.

Most pastors and church representatives shared the same sentiment as they thanked Lilo for the donation.
