LOGGING A ‘CURSE’ FOR SHORLAND ISLANDS: CONCERNED MOTHER
A concerned mother of Gaomae Village, Shortland Islands has said logging on the island is a ‘curse’.
Flora Meti told SIBC’s Shortland Island stringer, John Kotaru while logging brings very small benefits, it places more lasting negative impacts on their communities.
John Kotaru reports.
“Mrs. Flora Meti of Gaomae village in Shortland Islands told me that logging operations in the Shortlands has caused a lot of negative effects on communities and families. Logging might be okay for only a few reasons, but if landowners don’t know how to spend their royalties right in a good useful way, then it will only be a waste of time.”
