MET SERVICE CANCELLED HEAVY RAIN ALERT
The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service has cancelled its heavy rain alert for the provinces at eight-thirty am this morning.
The alert was previously issued for Choiseul, Isabel, Western, Central, Malaita, Guadalcanal, Makira, Rennell & Bellona and Temotu provinces because of a monsoon trough that was just south of Solomon Islands.
But in its cancellation notice this morning, the office said associated clouds and areas of heavy rain showers are now slowly easing.
However, the MET Service still advises people not to cross flooding rivers and large streams of unknown depth.
Unified Voice understands this is the final update from the Met office.
