The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services has issued an ‘NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO THE SOLOMON ISLANDS’ notice today after an undersea earthquake of magnitude 5.4 occurred at thirteen past nine this morning.

The undersea quake occurred near 13 kilometres West of Marasa, Guadalcanal Island, at Latitude 9.8 degrees South and Longitude 1 59.7 degrees East of the island.

The Met office says no further updates will be issued unless the situation changes.
