NO TSUNAMI WARNING FOR SOLOMON ISLANDS AFTER 4.8 QUAKE TODAY

The National Disaster Management Office, says there is no tsunami threat following an earthquake which occurred around 11am this morning.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred at 11:13am this morning near latitude 10.8 South Longitude 165.6 East approximately 23 kilometers of Lata, Temotu province.

The statement was issued by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Services for the National Disaster Management Office at 11:50am this morning.

The statement adds, no further updates will be issued unless the situation changes.
