North Guadalcanal Constituency has officially launched its 12 Green Economic Zones on Wednesday, May 4th 2025.
The launch also included the handover of 12 tractors that will be used in the economic zones.
According to the constituency office, the tractors were funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), under the productive sector program, at a total cost of 1.3 million dollars. Extra support was also provided by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development through the National Transport Fund.
Member of Parliament for North Guadalcanal, Dr. Paul Bosawai, said that the constituency has been contributing to the country’s economy since the 1960s.
He added that North Guadalcanal can become an economic centre in the future for Solomon Islands.

Meanwhile, Minister for Rural Development, Hon. Daniel Waneoroa said the launch of these economic zones and the handover of the tractors sets a new standard for how the CDF program can be used to support development in rural areas.
“As central government coordinating agency supporting the 50 constituencies in the country, the ministry is happy with North Guadalcanal Constituency for the implementation of their 2024 CDF budget allocation which sets another benchmark in the implementation of the Constituency Development Fund program,” Minister Waneoroa said.
People from the constituency, including members of the cooperative society, acknowledged the constituency office for making the project a reality.
They said this is the first project of its kind in North Guadalcanal and they are proud to be part of it.
